Recently completed in the studio was this rather interesting hand painted coat of arms on vellum for the German family of Kuntermann. Of particular interest is the Kunter or wild man of German myth and folklore. I have never painted one before and I have to say he fascinates me. He is always depicted with a red fur body, he has a spear and a shield and most charming of all he is always accompanied by a small songbird. Evidently he lives in the forest and travellers will often hear him bellowing with laughter. I like this character and he reminds me of the Green Man of legend.
