Grand Armorial of Ponce de Leon

PDL1aThis Grand Armorial was designed and hand painted on vellum as a display armorial for a venue in St. Augustine, Florida which was arranged after a recent visit to the city.  Although Ponce de Leon did not found the original town he is probably the most well known figure associated with this fine City today. He was also the first Governor of Puerto Rico. So I decided to include the shields of arms of both these locations for interest. There was some debate as to the correct colour of the border of the arms but in the end I decided that the Azure (blue)would look heraldically stronger that the other version which shows the border as Argent (Silver).
